Collection: Janet Mandel

Whether I am in my studio working from the many reference photos I have taken in the wild, at zoos, game parks & preserves or in my own living room sketching and photographing the antics of my own animals, I am always amazed and appreciative of the creatures planet earth has to offer.

My gift in this lifetime is that of an artist. And so for me, the best way to show my appreciation of the animal kingdom that I so much enjoy, is to depict them in the best way I can in my paintings. If you too are an animal lover, then get comfortable and enjoy what I have to offer.

My studio is located at 747 Abbey Hill Rd. Kennedy, NY 14747 on country property east of Jamestown, NY which has been certified as a wildlife habitat by the National Wildlife Federation.

When you visit the studio, you may be lucky enough to see some of the diverse wildlife I am surrounded by. In the summer and fall I see Red Tailed Hawks, Kestrels, Northern harriers, a murmuration of starlings, tree swallows, bluebirds, finches, meadowlarks, even Yellow Rumped Warblers. Occasionally Snowy Owls have made it their winter habitat as well as flocks of Snow Buntings. Bobolinks fly from S. America to nest in the tall grasses in the spring.
